چکیده

Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) consist of abnormal communications between the arteries and veins. They can involve any part body extremity grow in proportion to age response hormonal influence or trauma. When symptoms progress from Schöbinger clinical stage II III, transcatheter and/or direct puncture embolization are less-invasive repeatable options for symptom palliation. The goal is obliterate AV shunt, choice lesion access embolic agents based on individual anatomy flow. Embolization be technically challenging due complex vascular morbidity risks. Therefore, a multidisciplinary management essential diagnosis therapeutic intervention AVMs.

Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations treated with embolotherapy.

Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVM) represent pulmonary vascular anomalies and in majority of cases are congenital in origin. We report a case that presented with predominant complaints of dyspnoea on exertion and cyanosis. Clinical examination revealed a bruit in the left lower interscapular and infrascapular areas which led us to suspect PAVM. The diagnosis was established on the bas...

Endovascular management of arteriovenous malformations

Management of arteriovenous malformations (AVM’s) is a complex process that frequently requires a multidisciplinary approach in addition to multiple sessions and treatment techniques. Today endovascular occlusion is frequently the first management option to facilitate surgical intervention. However, in a small percentage of cases it can also be curative. Here, we will shed some light on the dif...

Ethanol Embolotherapy of Pelvic Arteriovenous Malformations: an Initial Experience

OBJECTIVE We retrospectively assessed the results of performing ethanol embolization for pelvis arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). MATERIALS AND METHODS During the past 10 years, eight patients (8 females, age range: 27-52 years) with AVMs in the pelvic wall (n = 3) and uterus (n = 5) underwent staged ethanol embolizations (range: 1-5, mean: 2.5) under general anesthesia. Ethanol embolizatio...

Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations in children: outcomes of transcatheter embolotherapy.

OBJECTIVE To describe outcomes of transcatheter embolotherapy (TCE) in children with pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVMs). STUDY DESIGN Chart and imaging review of all children (age </=18 years) treated for PAVMs by TCE at three hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia centers. RESULTS All 42 treated patients were included, with a mean age of 12 years (range, 4 to 18). Cyanosis was pr...

Surgical and Endovascular Treatment for Spinal Arteriovenous Malformations

Spinal arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is a broad term that constitutes diverse vascular pathologies. To date, various classification schemes for spinal AVM have been proposed in literature, which helped neurosurgeons understand the pathophysiology of the disease and determine an optimal treatment strategy. To discuss indications and results of surgical and endovascular interventions for spina...
